1:30 p.m. Jazzman from the Gulag , documentary film about Eddi Rosner, by Pierre-Henry SALFATI, (Arte, 1999, 58 min., in Polish).

3:00 p.m. Comedian Harmonists , by Joseph VILSMAIER, (1997, 125 min., in Polish).

5:00 p.m. Wanted, comedy by Stanisław BAREIA (1972, 80 min., in Polish).

For the fourth time, the Judaica Foundation - Center for Jewish Culture is joining in the closing events of the National Charity Grand Campaign. Free admission to all film showings, where a collection for the charity will be taken. Your contributions to this aid campaign are welcome.

KL Auschwitz-Birkenau, seen from the perspective of 60 years - lecture by Dr. Franciszek PIPER of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.




Wednesday, January 12 th, 6:00 p.m.

How to remember Auschwitz... after Auschwitz - lecture by Dr. Sławomir KAPRALSKI of the Warsaw School of Social Psychology and the Centre for Social Studies, Warsaw.




Monday, January 17th, 6:00 p.m.

Auschwitz - Birkenau, as a challenge after 60 years - meeting with Dr. Jochen AUGUST.




Tuesday, January 18th, 6:00 p.m.

Auschwitz Remembrance - opening of an exhibition of Auschwitz-related posters, from the collection of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.




Wednesday, January 19th, 6:00 p.m.

Literature and Remembrance

Finding Pictures - film by Benjamin GEISSLER. Introduction by Prof. Jerzy JARZĘBSKI. The film is about the life and work of Bruno Schulz, and the dramatic story of his frescos from the Landau house in Drohobycz (106 min., English subtitles).

Monday , January 24th , 6:00 p.m.

Music in the Waiting Room to Death

Composers from the Theresienstadt Ghetto - lecture by Piotr SZALSZA.

 

After the lecture, Concert of works composed by Pavel Haas, Hans Krás, Viktor Ullmann and Gideon Klein, who were confined to that ghetto in 1941-1944 and who died in Auschwitz-Birkenau.

 

Jointly organized with the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Austrian Consulate General in Cracow.




Tuesday, January 25th, 6:00 p.m.

6804 - personal tales from the memory of August Kowalczyk, former prisoner of KL Auschwitz - monodrama by August KOWALCZYK.




Wednesday, January 26th, 6:00 p.m.

Portraits of Jews in Rembrandt's work - meeting with Izaak CELNIKIER, born in Warsaw, former prisoner of KL Auschwitz-Birkenau, painter from Paris.

Jointly organized with the French Cultural Institute in Cracow.




Friday, January 28th, 6.00 p.m.

Literature and Remembrance

La Tregua - film by Francesco ROSI (1997),

Introduction by Prof. Marco BELPOLITI (in Italian, with simultaneous translation into Polish).
