Concert for a Friend* A piano recital by Stefan Łabanowski, graduate of the Music Academy in Katowice in the class of Professor Andrzej Jasinski. Łabanowski participated in numerous competitions and won awards both in Poland and abroad; gave concerts in the USA, France and Holland.

Thursday, September 7th, 6:00 p.m.
The Grosses of Cracow - A Family Story
A Yoram Gross (Australia) film screening with the maker in person. Yoram Gross comes from the famous Cracovian Gross family and is the younger brother of Natan Gross. Yoram studied musicology at the Jagiellonian University, film-making became his passion and profession in Poland, Israel and Australia. His current stay in Cracow is also linked to a film project.



Monday, September 11th, 6:00 p.m.
My Barbarian Life
Promotion of a book by Janina Katz, Cracovian Jew and Danish writer. Her novel is about remembrance, family memory, symbolized by and imprinted in photographs of the family album. To her credit Katz has three novels, as well as eight volumes of poetry, two collections of short stories, several books for children, and a great deal of translation and literary criticism. She has received many prestigious literary awards.



Thursday, September 14th, 6:30 p.m.
Exhibition Opening Prints by Basil C. Frank, part of the framework of the Cracow Graphic Arts Triennial. Frank was born in Cape Town, South Africa where he studied sculpture at the University in Cape Town, followed by London, where he also worked as a lecturer. His work includes sculpture, photography and prints, which were exhibited in world’s largest galleries. He has lived and worked in Jerusalem since 1986.

JOINT Conference on the project The Jewish Community Center in Cracow (JCC). General and interested public welcome.



Sunday, September 24th, 7:00 p.m.
NEW YEAR’S CONCERT – ROSH HA-SHANA 5767
Concert of the KROKE ensemble: Tomasz KUKURBA (viola, violin), Jerzy BAWÓŁ (accordion), Tomasz LATO (double base), Tomasz GROCHOT (drums).
THE CONCERT WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29th, 2006.



Tuesday, September 26th, 6 p.m.
Opening of an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Tithy ALEKSANDROWICZ (Israel). The exhibition is organized by the Krakow friends of Tithy a year after her death.



Wednesday, September 27th, 6 p.m.
On Bar Mitzvah but Not Only – a lecture by Michael SCHUDRICH, Poland’s Chief Rabbi.



Thursday, September 28th, 6 p.m.
On the Mechanisms of Collective Remembrance or How Human Societies Remember – a lecture by Dr. Sławomir KAPRALSKI from the Centre for Social Studies in Warsaw. The lecture is part of the European Program Monument Nomination and Pilot Implementation as an Alternative Form of Architecture and Religious Tourism (MoNoPi).
