Galician Jews – opening of an exhibition of photographs by Andrzej POLEC and a promotion of the pictorial album Forgotten. We, Jews of the Borderland published by BOSZ Publishing House.



Wednesday, October 4th, 6 p.m.
Professor Józef A. Gierowski in Memoriam – a meeting dedicated to the memory of the late Professor Gierowski, the co-founder of the Judaica Foundation and its Board Chairman for a number of years.



Thursday, October 5th, 6 p.m.
BAYIT HADASH LITERARY PROGRAM
Die Namem der Nummern – a lecture by Hans Joachim LANG, author of the book bearing the above title, organized jointly with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Krakow. In the book, H.J. Lang describes many years of his research in tracking down the identity of 86 Jews murdered in the concentration camp of Natzweiler-Struthof. All first and last names of the victims have been returned to them through the efforts of the German journalist (the lecture in German).

Tuesday, October 10th, 6 p.m.
The Benedictine Tradition in the United Europe – a meeting with Father Bernard, Abbot of the Benedictine Abbey at Tyniec, as a part of the European Program Monument Nomination and Pilot Implementation as an Alternative Form of Architecture and Religious Tourism (MoNoPi).



Thursday, October 12th, 6 p.m.
Jewishness in the Contemporary Urban Space – on the Example of Warsaw – a lecture by Dr. Jacek LEOCIAK as a part of the European Program Monument Nomination and Pilot Implementation as an Alternative Form of Architecture and Religious Tourism (MoNoPi).

From Krakow to Krakow – a meeting with Ryszard LÖW (Loew), Israeli writer born in Krakow; moderated by Andrzej KOZIOŁ, author of the book Krakowianie [Cracovians] on the Israelis born in Krakow.



Wednesday, October 18th, 6 p.m.
BAYIT HADASH LITERARY PROGRAM
Der Judenstaat – The Jewish State – a promotion of the Polish translation of the book by Theodor Herzl, with the participation of David PELEG, Israeli Ambassador in Poland, Dr. Erik PETRY, Professor Jan WOLEŃSKI and Jacek SURZYN, translator of the book published by Austeria Publishing House.

From Baroque to Broadway – a concert by KEN SHIFRIN’S POSAUNE VOCE TRIO (Great Britain): Ken SHIFRIN (trombone), Claire Angela HOLLOCKS (soprano) and Robert CHALLINOR (piano).

Where Are You from, Sir? - a meeting with Professor Władysław BARTOSZEWSKI and Michał KOMAR, and a promotion of the interview with Professor W. Bartoszewski published by Świat Książki Publishing House; moderated by Marek ZAJĄC, 'Tygodnik Powszechny' weekly.



Saturday, October 21st, 11 a.m.
Book Auction organized by the Antiquarian Bookshop RARA AVIS in Krakow. Exhibits to be auctioned may be viewed at the library of the Center for Jewish Culture star ting at 8 a.m. Detailed information can be obtained at www.raraavis.krakow.pl

Jewish Messianism and the Liberal Spirit – a lecture by Leon WIESELTIER, American writer and essayist, head of the literary section of The New Republic; organized jointly with the Embassy of the United States in Warsaw and the Consulate General of the United States in Krakow. (the lecture in English with a simultaneous translation into Polish)

Chamber music concert – Józef Koffler (1896 – 1944), Jewish composer of Lvov; Danuta BYRCZEK (piano) and the students of the Academy of Music in Krakow: Alicja MACIEJOWSKA (violin), Urszula KOPYTKO (viola), Paulina DRUCH (cello), Hanna SWARYCZEWSKA (mezzo-soprano) and Jan SIAŚKIEWICZ (clarinet); introduction by Ewelina CZARNIK.
